Kenya is Finally on The Green List

The emergence of the covid-19 virus led to many countries and states to lock their doors to any foreigners who were coming into the country. 2021 however came with some good news and most countries went easy on the restrictions that they had imposed on individuals coming into the country. The UK has since adopted the traffic light system which has been implemented with colours red, amber and green. Each colour symbolizes whether or not one is safe or if you will need to go on forced quarantine.

Green
-You will have to do one pre-departure test up to 72 hours before returning to the UK
-One PCR (A test that detects the presence of a virus if you have the virus at the time of the test)

-No quarantine unless a test is positive.

Amber

-One pre-departure test.
-Quarantine at home for 10 days on arrival in the UK.
-PCR test required on days two and eight of quarantine

Red

-One pre-departure test.
-On arrival, passengers must quarantine in a hotel for 10 days at their own cost.

-PCR test required on days two and eight of quarantine

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said eight countries would be taken off the red list from Wednesday. This means that people returning from countries like Turkey will no longer have to quarantine in a hotel.

He also said that PCR tests will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travelers returning to England.

Wales said it would follow England in removing Turkey, Pakistan, the Maldives, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh and Kenya from the red list. It would “carefully consider” the proposed changes on testing but said they are “not without risk”.

This comes as good news to all the Kenyan travelers as they have now been removed from the red list to the green list.
